How do we get our DVR upgraded?I have an old IPN430 which is a slow unit with a paltry 37 hours of hd recording time. Recently the hard drive has started to go bad. So I need a replacement but the problem is I don't want an IPN430, I want an ISB7500 or equivalent.
I have been round and round between sales and technical support and billing. Nobody seems to be able to get this done. My neighbors are getting the new dvr, why am I being penalized for being a long time customer. |

Generally type of dvr is tied to your service, the higher the tv package, more likely to have higher DvR capabilities. That being said, you can request a DVR upgrade, charge $105. Or simple explain issue with DVR and see what you get.
For motorola markets U family, u200 small DVR ... 1216 U300, u450 large DVR..... either original large 1225, or newer 2250. |

I have u450 and they are still trying to send me the old 160GB dvr as a replacement. My neighbors are getting 500GB DVRs. I am actually on the phone with ATT arguing right now.
If I have to go through the trouble of losing all of my recorded content due to a drive failure I want to at least get my dvr upgraded to a "current" model. |

Let them know you'll be cancelling your service or simply tell them you have heard that if you get a U300 or higher you would get a larger DVR. tell them you'd like to upgrade to the highest package and cite this page. » forums.att.com/t5/Using- ··· j7BAo6UkOnce they send it out to swap or change out simply call back and downgrade your TV package |

I have u450, I have always had the highest package. When I ordered my service this small DVR was all they had.
I am still on the phone getting bounced around from department to department, 1 hour and 20 mins so far. They did offer an upgrade at $105. I am not going to pay for "current" equipment so they are transferring me to a specialist. I did tell them that I was willing to just terminate my service then maybe re-order next month.
Why is this so hard? So far I have spent over 2.5 hours dealing with this. |

Request a tech visit, while a gamble...based on what tech has truck .will get a larger DVR but maybe ot the newest. A tech face to face is easier to deal with, than transfers.
If request shipment, again will most likely get larger,t not guarantee largest, as two large models. |

I finally got it.
They did the upgrade which is a charge of $105 then they gave me a $100 credit. |

I remember fighting with AT&T to get the 500 GB DVR for my new installation. After a week of fighting someone shipped it to me, no charge. |

So I got my "new", "Upgrade" DVR today... It's the same IPN4320 as my old one.
Is there an ATT Rep here on the forums? |

I may, or may not, have had an IPN430 in the past. If I had one I'm positive a 1TB Seagate 7200.12 (ST31000528AS) worked perfectly |

I really would rather not spend my own time and money upgrading the device then take a chance that I get nailed when I return it. But the other issue is that the IPN4320 is slow as hell on the menus. |

But the other issue is that the IPN4320 is slow as hell on the menus. That is why you put the original one back in... In my case I had three laying around. The IPN330HD (silver) STB's are slow as hell too, but they're in no rush to replace them. As a returning customer (install yesterday) I hoped they'd been thru a hardware refresh, but no... I love the ISB7005 (wifi) boxes, but prefer wired in my house. |
