How old is your oldest "HDTV"?

Mine is a Vizio vx37l doing very heavy usage daily from the day I bought it in early 2007. Never had any repairs of any kind done.

Re: How old is your oldest "HDTV"?

A ~2007-08 era Panasonic Viera TH-42PX80U Plasma. 1024x768 (non-square pixels obviously) panel res. Resolution is nothing to write home about but overall PQ still rivals a lot of modern sets. Using a good vetted picture setup from the PX80 forum thread on AVS and it is loooovely. And the internal scaler is real good. A very long time ago when I still had a traditional dvd player hooked up, pressed dvd's would be very comparable to upscaling players I'd see on other sets.

Just love it and I'm going to continue with it until it dies. And even then unless the repair cost is unwieldly, it may still see a second or third life.

EDIT: And as far as power consumption is concerned, the max draw noted is about ~350W. With a good picture setup like the one I am using it is probably half that. I don't have a kill-a-watt or similar or I'd get actual readings.

Panasonic 50-inch DLP. I don't have the exact model number. Purchased in 2005, still works.

As far as I remember, those days I used to subscribe to cable TV and only the movie channels had a designated channel for HD and very few movies were with 5.1 digital sound.

42" Panasonic Plasma 1080p from 2007 - still looks gorgeous, and I've never had a problem with it.

We also have a VX37L, built in Jan 2008. Never had any problems with it, and I wish I never bought that ridiculous service contract!

Upgraded last year from a 64" RPTV - Pioneer Elite Pro 720 that I bought in very early 2002 (Watched the winter Olympics in HD) to a 64" Samsung Plasma.

In this area there was 1 station broadcasting in HD and the cable system had 4 channels.

Erm, DirecTV was doing several movie channels in 5.1 Dolby Digital in the 98-2001 timeframe.
