NFL players/employees actively involved in memorabilia scams?

The lead is a lawsuit filed by a purchaser of a helmet allegedly worn by Eli Manning in the Super Bowl and regular season that was autographed by him and others.

The basis for the allegations are clearly laid out in this video:

Frankly, without regard to Manning or the Giants in particular I find it very easy to imagine this being a fact throughout the league. The only question is how many people and what people are involved.

Sports memorabilia is a well known category that involves a great deal of fraud.

I'm sure there is a lot of fraud in the sports memorabilia business, but I find it hard to believe that a player making millions per season would participate in such a scheme.
It seems like a big risk to take, especially if you're already rich.
