Seems to be unaffected up here...but then again Telus uses Bell's towers here in some sort of agreement...as I'm about to talk with mmy fiancee with no issues and she's with kodoo which I know is telus' value brand. |

AFAIK, its an actual network issue and not an issue with the towers directly. |

I've got Koodo and haven't noticed anything, not that I've tried to use voice. Data works fine and that's all that really matters to me... my work phone is on Rogers so at least I have redundancy |

First Rogers, and then Telus. Are these guys too cheap to install redundant systems to prevent a failure that brings down the entire network? |

My goodness. A company that apologizes. Is this the Fringe alternate universe? |

Rogers problem was reportedly a software change that went bad - but it was automatically pushed out across the network before anyone noticed... But that's just rumour. The TELUS problem? Far too early to guess... |

said by LazMan:Rogers problem was reportedly a software change that went bad Yea, but even these scenarios should have a minimum impact. You should not be applying a patch to a primary and backup system at the same time, because if the patch goes bad then you don't have the backup system to fall back to. As if they only applied it to one system, and it worked well then they can apply it to the backup system a day or two later. |

There are some changes, like IP changes, call routing, SS7, etc; that are 'all or nothing' - they can't be phased in; rather must be cut over hard.
But they also should be thoroughly lab tested first, with a tested roll-back program in place, as well... |

Telus has it's roots in Clearnet, which was extremely customer friendly |

Kind of a liability when you have a single point of failure for your entire network. |

Everything was back to normal in an hour. I had one customer ask if something was going on. |

said by Last Parade:Kind of a liability when you have a single point of failure for your entire network. Since Rogers, Bell and Telus rarely use SLAs on public networks, it's not an issue. All Rogers got for their outage was a few articles and several threats of cancellations, yet they still have over 9 million wireless customers. |

Not sure if it was nationwide, but it did hit the population centers. I had trouble around 4 PM with my (Koodo) data connection. By the time I rebooted the phone, all was well again. » canadianoutages.com/status/telusChange gone bad scenario seems odd. Tellus is very disciplined in their change management. I'd expect Any changes to be implemented midnight Pacific time on a Weekend. |

Did you notice Rogers and Bell both had trouble at the same time?
