I assume your desktop computer is on the LAN behind a ZyXEL ZyWALL or something to that effect.

Then you can add a virtual interface to the WAN port that is connected to your Cable modem.

IP: 192.168.100.2
Subnet: 255.255.255.0 (its a guess, but try and find the correct one)
GW: 192.168.100.1

OK. So that makes sense.
I was adding a routing table entry that said any packets trying to reach 192.168.100.1 should go out the WAN port. I guess that does not really work.

ill give your suggestion a try.
