Got up this morning and found this (KB2913751) Windows 7 update waiting for me to install, so i was wondering if anyone else got this.
Info on this update
quote:Assume that you install the Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) 8.1 client update KB 2830477 on a computer that is running Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. You remotely connect the computer to a Windows 8.1-based or Windows Server 2012 R2-based Remote Desktop Host server, and then you enable the smart card redirection in the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) connection. In this situation, when you try to use the smart card in the remote session, the smart card is not available and you receive the following error message: The Microsoft Smart Card Resource Manager is not running. WaitForSingleObject: Service is in an unknown state. CertUtil: -SCInfo command FAILED: 0x80070102 (WIN32/HTTP: 258) CertUtil: The wait operation timed out.
Yes, I got it on one of my two Windows 7 machines this morning.
The prerequisite fix (KB2830477) had been installed on that machine as an optional update just yesterday. On the machine without KB2830477, KB2913751 wasn't offered.
Yesterday I let Windows Update install several updates to Windows 7 SP1 64-bit Professional. Then it became impossible to log off 'username' in XP-Mode or Restart XP-Mode because within a few seconds Virtual PC would stop abruptly, with this Error Message Pop-up:
Windows Virtual PC has stopped working

It was only possible to completely Shut Down XP-Mode "successfully".
I then noticed that KB2830477 was among the updates I had installed, and that it is directly concerned with Remote Desktop performance. On a hunch I decided to uninstall it (I don't have a Windows 8 or 2012 computer to remote-connect to, anyway...) and the problem disappeared. Needless to add - I will not install the companion KB2913751, still offered by Windows Update for my Windows 7 SP1.
