ideas for protecting a laptop from fall damage?

sure being careful.. is a priority .. but I also like to take precautions ..

in case my laptop falls .. I'd like to minimize the damage

what do you think I could do?

---------

I'm thiking of crazy gluing those silicon corners that are for tables so a child doesn't hit their head .. sure will look kinds odd/ugly .. maybe I could do something about that (paint them jet black like the laptop vs clear)

if it falls this will reeeally minimize the impact ..

hard drive might survive ...

what do you think?

what ideas?

thank you..

Switching from mechanical to solid state hard drive will help protect the hard drive. It doesn't take much movement to kill a mechanical when it is spinning.

I'm not sure if the silicon corners would help. Most of the broken laptops I see have screen or hinge damage.

Buy one designed for ruggedness.

Panasonic Toughbook »ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/pub/Pa ··· rison_Ch

»www.panasonic.com/busine ··· part.pdf

Dell rugged

Getac

Camelot One's idea of an SSD is good. For the screen you can apply several layers of screen protector material.

I've had to replace a few mechanical drives for similar reasons.
Everyone of them was given an SSD upgrade.

As for tough books etc, do a search for MIL-STD-810G.
It is the military spec for robust design.
