I have a Western Digital External My Passport hard drive and it has a virtual CD with junk ware that I'd like to get rid of. I've tried the Erase Disk in the Mac Disk utility but to no avail.
The reason I want to get rid of it is I never use it and it makes it difficult to eject the disk when I want to unplug it from the computer (I have to drag both drives to the trash and one unmounts and the virtual CD with the junkware keeps remounting).
Re: [Help] Getting rid of junkware on an external hard drive
If it was anything like a drive I had from them a few years back, you can't get rid of the virtual CD as it's rendered in the firmware of the device, not on the disk itself.
