Crash, Boom, Bang

Somehow, a thunderstorm in February just doesn't seem quite right around here! It's been banging, and booming for about an hour... and raining quite heavily. With all the snow we had earlier this week, the 50-degree temps we're getting now, and all the rain that's falling, flooding is going to be a huge local problem over the next day or two. It's one of those times that I'm glad we do not have a basement, and the lot we picked out to build our home on is about the highest point on the street. Water from my downspout drains goes to the street, and goes in both directions away from our lot to catch basins along the curb.

All of our snow is gone but for large piles. For us the t-storms stayed to the west of us. We got some rain and the power went out for about 45 seconds...

We still have quite a bit of snow on the ground, but the streets are clear, and there are patches of grass appearing here and there. It goes without saying that snow piles are still quite evident, and the wet spots on the street are due mainly to snow melt running over the curbs. At least the temps have allowed the hardpack snow and ice in the streets to melt away.
