Comcast-villeIf the Senate suck-ups go along with this merger, it will be no time before all the wheels are greased and we'll have COMCASTville: owning TV viewing, internet, home security, phones .... wow, just like in the mining towns with company stores.
Soon, a larger portion of the merged area will find "power-cycling" a part of life; enjoy the thrill of waiting on hold for over 2 hours; and best of all -- learn that customer service means the customer does the servicing.
Awesome. Not. |

Many years ago BBR did a spoof site called "ComcastAndVerizonReports.com" or something like that, it was this site, but all the reviews were just for Comcast and Verizon. We're getting closer to that reality!
Personally, I don't think Comcast and Time Warner merging actually matters much. They don't compete, so their presence as separate companies doesn't change things in terms of the company being motivated to offer better products and service.
I'm a lot more concerned about the death of DSL and the third party ISPs that used to represent a lot of choices for customers. The future will be very ugly if the cable company is the only reasonable choice for internet, no matter how big or small the cable company is. |
