[WIN7] Login Won't Accept Password

Having an odd issue here....

We have two administrator accounts setup on the computer. One is the end user, the other is "Admin".

The "Admin" account refuses to accept the password. I can login as the end user, and since they have administrative rights, I can reset the password for "Admin". But even after doing that, Windows 7 still tells me the password for "Admin" is incorrect.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

The default username for "Admin" in Windows is actually Administrator. Are you using the correct username?

Yes, this is another user we created. We have 7 or 8 other machines based on the same image, they all work fine.

Another thought. Is this system part of a domain? If so, then the local Administrator account (I.e. MyPC1\Administrator) is different than the domain Administrator account (I.e. DomainName\Administrator).

Nope, no domain on these. Login screen has icons for the "End User" and the "Admin" accounts. Click on "End User" and it logs in fine. Click on "Admin" and won't accept the password. Tomorrow I may just try removing the password altogether and see what happens.

Is Admin still logged in behind the scenes? If so, the password change will not take place until Admin is logged out.

Nope, I turned the machine on myself this morning before trying to login.

Open up a command prompt window and type net user admin. The output will be something like this; can you post it here? There are some (perhaps unlikely) reasons why the account could be unusable, so we might as well eliminate those first.

User name dave

Probably time I changed my password, huh? (This is a fairly unimportant laptop -- the 'couch computer')

The easiest was to capture this is probably net user admin > somefile.txt and then upload the file here.

I'll ask the obvious: Caps Lock?

Not on. As stated I can logon as the end user just not with the admin account.
