Would you buy a 5-year old NOS hard drive?

I have a 5 year old desktop that I cobbled together. It's fully functional for what I need to do. Currently have 120GB and 80GB IDE drives. Thinking of replacing them with one 320GB SATA drive (my mobo supports SATA2). An Ebay seller has brand new SATA2 drives for reasonable prices. I could see the label on a WD model that it was manufactured in 2009. Just wondering if you hardware gurus would have any qualms about using an unused 5 year old drive. This is my primary system but all my data is backed up onto my laptop and/or an external hard drive.

Thanks.

Why would you not just buy a new drive? I just got a 1TB drive for $50. Are you getting this antique off Ebay for like $5 or something?

Sorry, let me back up. You do realize you can just plug a SATA3 drive into a SATA2 port, right?

I haven't seen any new, current model drives that cheap. Guess I'm not looking in the right spots!

I'm just trying to minimize the amount of $ I put into an old system. That's why I was looking at (new) last generation drives. I don't need anywhere near 1TB and most SATA3 drives I see advertised are that big or larger.

Thanks.

I'm going for that WD 500GB drive. It's actually a little cheaper on Amazon.
