Needing help finding a Word to PDF program.Hello folks, I have been searching the web for a program that converts a Word document to a PDF. I have done several searches and many programs out there are PDF to Word. Any help finding a decent program whether free or a purchasable software is much needed. Thanks in advance. |

At work we use CutePDF Writer and print as a PDF. Just have to watch out when installing it and decline the extra crap they include with it. |

Not sure which version of Word you're using but newer versions will let you Save As... PDF without any other programs needed. That said, I like PDFCreator myself. » www.pdfforge.org/pdfcreator |

The oldest version of Word I have conveniently to hand is 2007, and it has 'save as PDF'.

I use Bullzip PDF printer. It's a free program that basically installs a PDF printer. You can just select it as the printer from within any program and get a PDF file as an output. It's very handy and extremely easy to install and use. |

Add another vote for PDFCreator. I've been using it for years and it works great. Not only will it allow you to create PDF files from Word Documents, you can literately print anything to a PDF File.

I see that nobody here has yet mentioned Nitro; there's both a free and a paid version. Both provide printer drivers so that you can "print to PDF" from any program including Word. And both have the ability to produce the most compact PDFs of any such program I've tried. I do a 40-page quarterly magazine for a non-profit group, and create PDFs to distribute to my volunteer proofreaders. Bullzip and CutePDF both create files larger than 20 MB in this case, which are far too large to send to people who are still using dial-up or very slow DSL connections. Nitro Pro kept the most recent proof copy below 2 MB in size. Photos become pixillated at such great reduction, but the file serves its purpose quite well. And the program can also produce high-quality results; it's just a matter of selecting its options -- which the other programs that I tried to use didn't provide. After using the free version for a few months, I did move to the paid version, since it also provides the reverse capability of creating Word files from PDFs and adding annotations to existing PDF files -- but the free version is head and shoulders above all its competitors that I examined. Their web site is at » www.nitropdf.com/ if you want more details. NOTE--I have no connection to them other than being a VERY satisfied customer. |

All of our HP computers are bundled with a trialware version of PDFComplete. It will make 50 PDF documents before it turns into a pumpkin. Most of our users never reach the 50 limit and for those that do, we give them an enterprise licensed version.
Some of our power users we give the Adobe product. |

I will tell you that Nitro is a nightmare for support people because the key is tied to the machine. You need to deactivate it before you can move the license to a new machine. If you didn't deactivate it you have to get a hold of them for assistance. Also an issue if the hard drive dies.
Personally I use Office's Save As PDF or CutePDF. |

Libre Office will do this and it's completely free. If you are still using Office 2003 then it's definitely worth a look. |

Another vote here for CutePDF, been using it for years. The beauty of CutePDF is that since it installs as a printer it works with any and all applications on the machine, not just Word. Bullzip PDF Printer is another fine choice. |

Another vote for Bullzip pdf printer. You can find it here along with a bunch of other related utilities: » www.bullzip.com/ |

Somewhat more simple--if one uses the Chrome browser: install the Chrome Office Viewer extension, open the .doc file, and Save (print as PDF) from there to Google Drive. Just a more direct path to the viewer. Required a Google [Drive] account, of course. |
