No more security updates for Apple's Snow Leopardquote: Apple has stopped issuing updates for Mac OS X 10.6, known as Snow Leopard. That means the company won't be sending out software fixes to protect you from hackers and computer viruses.
The Snow Leopard operating system, released in 2009 remains popular. Snow Leopard is still running on 19% of Macintosh computers, according to data tracker Net Applications.

Wot, no-one's posting here suggesting a lawsuit against Apple for this? |

Mavericks is free and can be updated from 10.6.8
If people have money to buy macs , they have money to pay 20 $ for upgrading at least to lion if they can't upgrade their mac to mavericks.
At least , it's not a few 100 bucks like win doze |

I'm running Lion on 2 machines. Lion is next to stop getting security updates. I'm working on putting a clean install of Mavericks on both machines.
Apple wants as many people on the current OS as possible. Cutting off Snow Leopard from security updates is one way of doing it. |

Wonder how large of a target Snow Leopard and Safari 5.1 will become now for varying nefarious groups and individuals... |

The article is complete BS. Snow Leopard is still sold and supported by Apple. It didn't get any updates this time around because it was not affected by the goto fail bug. » store.apple.com/us/produ ··· -leopard |

Is it untrue that they didn't patch Snow Leopard, and Safari 5.1 yet like other articles state? |

I'm the first to admit that Snow Leopard is not getting a lot of love from Apple and they will stop supporting it soon, maybe tomorrow but not right now.
The article is just speculative because SL didn't receive updates when the other OSs did. |

Then they need to stop selling something they will not update before they stop providing the updates. |
