[iO] Sun outages and your Optimum TV service.

I just got this email from CV

Between February 28 and March 8, you might notice a very brief interruption in TV service due to sun outages. In the spring, as the sun's path across the sky gets higher each day, there are times when it goes directly behind a TV satellite and its radiation overpowers the satellite's signal.

TV service will be interrupted for only a few minutes and will come back automatically. These outages won't affect internet or phone service.

Since sun outages are a natural occurrence, there's nothing we can do to prevent them. However, we can let you know what channels will be affected and when.

For the complete schedule of anticipated times and affected channels, click here.
I think we are a really deep trouble if there's "sun outage"...More than just tv channels will be affected.

Maybe the Sun is undergoing a UI overhaul that compliments the "cloud" DVR service

I don't think I've ever had an optimum outage due to the sun.

You have to admit that's a poor choice of words on Optimum's part.

1 recommendation

It's not a poor choice of words, that is what it's called in the industry. Sun Outages - outages caused by the sun.
