[Troubleshooting] Samsung Convoy II battery trouble

I have two Samsung Convoy II basic phones mom and grandma. Mom's phone has developed this issue when you hook it to the charger it says "unable to charge unsupported battery". It has the battery it that the phone came with. I'm wondering if it's a bad phone or a bad battery.

I don't know if I should drop $45 on a new battery or $250 on a new phone. If I buy the new battery and the phone still acts up then I'm out the $45 and I still have to buy a new phone.

It's in contract until July. I've decided I'm buying basic phones outright as the cost is minimal.

I did try switching the batteries between the phones and the problem goes away on both phones.

I've experienced ImOn (when they were McLeod USA), Mediacom, Comcast, and Time Warner and I currently have DirecTV. They are much better than broadcast TV.

I have not and will not cut the cord.

Seems as though the problem is solved.

One phone (mom's phone) gets way more use than grandma's phone.

I paid $12 shipped for a new oem battery for my wife's Convoy as few weeks ago on amazon.
