Always nice to have a heads-up, thanks. BTW, this appeared today for XP as "High Priority", apparently a nag/popup about EOL for XP:
»support.microsoft.com/kb/2934207
I guess it's good for those who've had their head in the sand, but seems pretty useless to me.

Thanks for the heads-up, dp.

Another month, another batch of security patches to add to the growing list. As an aside, has anyone published any kind of genuine study of the number of security patches required (or at least issued) per line of original OS code for various operating systems, over the years? Google seems not to be able to find anything relevant on the topic...

At least it can be removed for those who want to stop being nagged about it.

2/Two more monthly updates for Windows XP SP3. Unless (the four/4)th Tuesdays and out of bound updates get released. :/ I wonder if we will get Flash updates for this Tuesday too. :P

MS will find others ways to enforce XP users to stop running the OS.
Removing a nagging KB might be a good stop gap measure but the EOL is written.

Well, Microsoft tried asking folks like us to get all our friends to upgrade from XP to Windows 8. That backfired royally. Microsoft hasn't a clue as to why folks are still using XP just as it had not a clue that Windows 8 technically oriented users would resent the hell out of Microsoft for trying to recruit them to get XP "clueless" users to upgrade to Windows 8.

Thank you! For some reason, bookmarking that page doesn't seem to work in Fx.

Nope, won't do it. That said I'm prepared for April 8th. I have a fire extinguisher next to my WinXP SP3 box just in case it bursts into flames. Also I've put read-only attributes on all my WinXP VM's so they don't delete themselves

Hopefully I'm not underestimating the seriousness of Microsoft ending XP support and my house won't burn down, my car won't blow up, and everyone I know won't get the plague and die a horrible death.

I guess I can buy an Win8 machine should any of the above happen.

I needed a good laugh!

My XP Pro SP 2 computer is fine. And I have never gotten any notice from Microsoft about support ending for it which happened several years ago.
