[WIN8] UEFI Doesn't See My Hard Drive After W8 Install ?
Installing Windows 8 64bit to my Dell Inspiron 15R 5520. I had to change the BIOS settings from UEFI to Legacy and turned Off Secure Boot in order to boot from the Windows disk.
I tried to change the settings back to UEFI and Secure Boot after installation, but when booting the system it now says, can't find a bootable drive. Back on Legacy it boots just fine.
ALSO, if the Ethernet cable is plugged in when the computer is starting up, it immediately try's to boot form the network. When I check the BIOS settings under UEFI I see only IPV4 or IPV6 choices, no hard drive is visible.
I would appreciate any and all comments or suggestions.
Thanks in advance.
You have to install Win8 in UEFI mode if you want UEFI to work. Maybe your Windows install media is not set for UEFI. Perhaps you need different install media.
