[Speed] Wi-Fi seems sluggish

I have a Netgear Router (N600) that is several months old and when I plug directly into the router I'm pulling speed tests (both Xfinity Speed Test and SpeedTest.net) of slightly above my provisioned package but when I'm on Wi-Fi I get about 19 down and 10 up.

I'd like to know what settings I should use on the router to optimize it.

I have separate SSIDs for 2.4 and 5 gHz bands. I'm on the 2.4 band due to range issues. I'm starting to regret buying the N600 and may buy another Apple AirPort Extreme.

I'm on the Comcast Blast Package (50/25).

2.4 GHz should be set to "Up to 144 Mbps" mode and on channel 1,6, or 11.
5 GHz should be set to "Up to 300 Mbps" and on any of the upper channels(just not 165).

I'm curious of why you chose a Netgear N600 router since that's kind of a downgrade. Should have went with an Asus or Netgear Nighthawk.

You may not good enough Wi-Fi cards in your laptops and blast is 50/10 I wish they had a plan with 25Mb/s upload speed
I had a N600 but the cheaper version of it without Gigabit Ethernet lol

Should the 2.4 and 5 ghz networks have the same SSID?

No, not necessarily. That usually causes issues when you want to join one band or the other. Most devices will only use 2.4 GHz(since it's the higher signal usually) when the SSIDs are the same.

Here's another thing to mention:
The newer high end routers(not so much Apple, since they didn't score so well on 5 GHz) usually have a smaller gap between 2.4 and 5 GHz range.

The Netgear Nighthawk router is actually on sale for $170 at Staples at the moment .

The updating the firmware on your router and/or the driver of your WLAN card.
