Fair Price for Mid 2011 21.5" iMac

I inherited the above, model MC309LL/A last year. While I've always wanted a Mac, I just don't use a desktop.

I'm interested in selling it, but I don't want to give it away. I'm not sure I want to ship it either, as I have the box, but it seems to be missing some of the packing foam.

I did look on eBay, etc, but not sure if that is a reasonable determination of value. Does anyone have experience with this?

Spec:
21.5" Display
2.5 GHz quad-core i5
4GB of 1333MHZ DDR3 SDRAM
500GB 7200-rpm hard drive
8x SuperDrive

Any advice you can give me is appreciated.

Thanks,
Adam

eBay is the best and IMHO only real basis for determining value.
It's an auction, presumably seen by millions, where anyone interested can set a maximum price they'll pay.
Auctions are wonderful and that's what I would use to determine value.
Anything more or less would be cheating someone out of the true value.
Sure, someone can guess at a value as to what it's worth, but if someone here guesses $500 (I'm making this up for the illustration) but there is someone would be willing to pay $800 (on eBay) what would you say is the real value? I'd say it's $800, not $500.
Trust eBay's values...they represent the resale market.

Thanks, I guess I will track eBay for a week to see where values end up.

Cut your research time by 95% and turn on "completed listings" in the eBay search filters. It'll show the final selling (or non-selling) price for all the recently completed auctions.

Remember to adjust for eBay + paypal fees if you're ultimately going to post it privately.

When you sell it, and have to ship it, I would recommend going to a local UPS Store and having them pack it (and ship it) for you. This is if you cannot pack it properly yourself, as it is an awkward item to pack if you are missing part of the original packaging.

I have used my local UPS Store for packing awkward items that I sell for many years. I have never had a problem. However, each Store is independently owned, so I would look up the reviews for you local Store first.
