ColorVision Spyder Pro 2 - Still viable?

I feel I know the answer to this but I haven't kept up with the colorimeter/monitor technologies so I want to ask a broader audience...

Is this Colorimeter still viable for calibrating something like a Dell U2410 or U2413?
I know too many things have changed with monitors going to IPS displays..etc

My guess is I need to get a new colorimeter....

PS. Yes, I have not used the colorimeter for a long time as i haven't had time to actually do any photo editing for a few years

It should still work, you may have to adjust the monitors brightness/contrast beyond what the software tells you, but for color accuracy it should be the same process as on the previous monitor.

Check out dispcalGUI and Argyll CMS (»dispcalgui.hoech.net/), they will allow you to create a more accurate profile than the ColorVision software, and includes tools for working with wide-gamut screens.
