said by MalwareBytes Blog : Why is Malwarebytes now charging an annual license fee for its products?
As more and more people have come to rely on us for malware protection and cleanup, our costs in bandwidth, hosting fees, infrastructure, salaries of our researchers, QA department, and more have grown immensely.
Though our company is about more than just making money, we are a company and we do have to make money to pay our staff to continue doing what they love, which is fight malware.
The subscription model will help us to be sustainable for the future while staying true to our roots that we will always make malware cleanup free for everyone (in our free version).
I have a lifetime license, am I still covered?
If you previously purchased Malwarebytes Anti-Malware PRO, Malwarebytes will continue to honor your lifetime license for 2.0 and beyond. Your update to Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium is free. You will be able to transfer your lifetime license to a newer computer whenever you decide to upgrade or if you reformat your computer, but lifetime licenses are not transferable between users.
Can I buy a lifetime license of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium?
With the switch to a subscription license model, Malwarebytes will not be selling any more lifetime licenses. The new subscription model allows you to protect up to three PCs with one license and can be purchased here: »store.malwarebytes.org/3 ··· consumer
I'm happy I obtained a lifetime version. "Golden Ticket" |

One question-Under "Detection and Protection" "PUP' and PUM" should I have Treat detections as malware or Warn user about detections ticked. |

Lifetime license here as well. If anyone is interested there is currently a deal on Newegg for Eset Nod32 that also includes a lifetime MBAM Pro license for 1 PC. Deal information |

You might want to look at these previously posted MBAM FAQ's: What are the 'PUP' detections, are they threats and should they be deleted? » helpdesk.malwarebytes.or ··· deleted-Selecting all PUPS - » blog.malwarebytes.org/ne ··· ll-pups/ |

When I disable the malicious website detection, there is a large "fix now" notice which does not go away when I set "disable notifications." Is there another way to get rid of this is without enabling malicious website detection?
Thanks. |

I have looked at PUP's and found some of them to be necessary parts of some programs as a result I look carefully at any PUP before removing it. |

I have them both set to warn. Like you said some may be part of programs that may be necessary. |

In some cases the PUP may be loaded with greyware not enabling a choice post, infection. These are all user choice settings - I was just stating what the defaults should be set to. |

How is its free version only for scanning and cleaning? That is what I used it for and rarely. :/ |

I tried to update, not having run MalwareBytes since losing some files. I have been waiting for this ever since you guys all started testing it. i now have it, thanks to the fabulous help on their support. I tried entering my old identification info, and it just wouldn't take it, no matter what I did, so I sent a help email. Within it, I got all I needed. Trying to add the numbered/lettered ID manually just doesn't cut it, but with the info they sent me, I didn't have a problem. What a fantastic program, which I've known for years, and now I can thank their support team as well. |

Thanks. I want to know this too! I have a paid license but only want it as a manual scanner. For the record, I haven't read any of the chit chat on the betas. Boring! In general, I think the GUI is worse than before. I have notifications turned off and they still pop up. The only thing I like better is that the update status is on the first page. Otherwise, too many tabs/pages. Change for the sake of change isn't always good. |

What a horrifying interface.
Reminds me of Norton / McAfee level glamware.
Also can't do immediate post-install def updates. |

I tried v2 and ...I installed v2 free (only wanted an on-demand scanner and cleaner) yesterday on my very old Windows XP Pro. SP3 and 64-bit W7 EE SP1 machines. I ran into annoying problems already in my old XP Pro. SP3 PC: 1. No more mbam.exe /update. Supposedly, it will be back in the future versions according to its forum people. I use it to update before I do Explorer's right click scan. 2. MBAM likes to (paus/freez)e twice during its "Pre-scan Operation: Working -- Filesystem Objects: Pending" that can last 30-45 seconds long. So far, its forum people hasn't figured what it is causing it. I might be an isolated issue because I am using an over decade old OS installation (have tons of stuff on it!). They want me to run various programs (ComboFix [resetted my Windows!]) to get more information. I think I am going back to v1.7.xxx soon since it never gave me any issues. Guys, be sure to post in their forums about your issues so they will know! |

One thing I like is how the result logs are displayed. And the detailed log window. The dashboard GUI is nice too. Also notice that there are no more UAC prompts to launch the program which is great. |

OK here's a dumb question: How to verify that I got in under the wire with the lifetime license. I think I did because when I updated MBAM 1.75 to 2.0, it took me to an update page which said Free upgrade or update and something about it always being free upgrade or something like that. Anyway I converted the free version to PRO on 2/19/2014. It seems unclear by reading the registration info in "My Account" although there's no mention of an expiration. |
