Re: TekSavvy database for LEO requests?

Hello Marc,

First I want to thank you for taking the time to respond to these. As more news stories pile up ( »www.cbc.ca/news/politics ··· .2649523 )

Can you share a rough timeline of when you think TekSavvy's stance will be available?

yep, just working through it still. taking a bit longer than we'd like but it's on the way.

@Marc
The "Income War Tax Act, 1917" was a temporary measure enacted to finance Canada's costs of fighting WWI. It remained in effect, with revisions, until 1948 when the name was changed to simply "Income Tax Act".

After nearly 100 years the Feds still haven't made good on the promise of the 'temporary' nature of income tax. Will we be waiting about the same amount of time for TSI's LEO requests disclosures?

Colour me curious.

Would anyone happen to have a link to the CRTC filing that surprise me referred to - the one mentioning Bell's advertising being exploited, etc.

The CRTC file can be found on this page, »services.crtc.gc.ca/pub/ ··· Lang=eng

Scroll down to the filed numbered, 8665-P8-201400762.

Marc, are your data links mirrored like Bells are (that you are aware of)?

Any new news? or is everything still being ironed out?

BTW, did anyone read up on who the Harper gov is considering? If not, check this out:
Prime Minister names DOJ's top national security and law enforcement lawyer as next Privacy Commissioner of Canada
»blog.privacylawyer.ca/20 ··· nal.html

Some serious scary sh*t there...

I'm curious as to what TSI's head-honcho thinks (aside from the above promises to be open and transparent).

Evidently there are a lot of wrinkles.
Perhaps this will help.

Not wrinkles.. Just many requests. More stuff has happened in between. We are nearly there. Have a draft nearly ready to go and will make available as soon as it's ready.

SO if seemingly anyone can ask TSI for the details about any of your customers, consider this MY request for details about everyone whom the LEO's & spooks have asked you about.

Seems fair, n'est pas?

See someone requested the info from TSI in writing and got a response where your demands did not. The system works.

Thanks Marc,

I carefully read your document. While reading it, I was thinking "This is why I'm a TekSavvy customer, and will remain so."

Thanks for providing a great service and for acting in an exemplary fashion. Perhaps it will encourage other providers to act more ethically.
