[H/W] What you will keep? ISR3845 or 7206VXR npe400Hello everybody.
I have 2 cisco gear, isr3845 and 7206vxr with npe400. Now I need to get rid one of them.
I will use just one of this as router for my small hotel with 30mb FTTX network. And server some of ip phone with CME.
My other gear in my rack is 4503-E switch with sup ii+ts And 2x x4548-gb-rj45.
If you be me. What you will keep.
Thanks. |

When you say "to keep," what exactly do you mean? "To keep," as in "keep in the rack and (un)powered even though it has no use," or as in "sell on ebay?"

Haven't trolled ebay, etc for the going prices. Take a wander over and see which fetches the higher price currently and sell that particular piece of gear. Honestly, I'd personally keep as a lab device myself.

According to the following Cisco documentation » www.cisco.com/web/partne ··· ance.pdfthe 3845 has more throughput capability than the NPE400. Selling either one of them won't get you much money, based on a quick price quote on ebay website. So you may want to keep the 3845 as primary router and to keep the 7206VXR as spare/lab/backup router. |

I think I would probably keep the 3845.
* PVDMs, VWICs, AIM-CUE etc for voice capabilities are quite readily available on ebay and getting cheaper all the time * It has built in gigabit ports, including an SFP cage if you ever have a need for some fibre one day * You can buy switching modules so you dont need a second device to manage, and those switching moduels can also supply PoE if you have the right power supplies in the router * As others mentioned its probably faster than a NPE400 anyway
You should be able to sell the 7206VXR chassis, power supplies, and NPE separately on their own very easily and quickly. The 7200VXR series are one of the most widely deployed platforms in the world, theres a healthy second hand market for parts. |

Though a quick ebay price quote reveals that you can get NPE-400 with only $155. I don't think such price is considered financially sound as selling price |
