Hi, JammerMan79. Some questions:

1. With Joe Natale in place of Darren Entwhistle as CEO - is this going to have an impact on tech ops at Telus - especially on tech rep quality levels and overseas vs domestic percentages?

2. Joe Natale is going to remain in Toronto. What does this portend for speed-of-response regarding executive decisions in situations where speed-of-response is critical (such as when reality intrudes upon marketing department fantasies and things need to get cleaned up pronto)?

3. What are Mr. Natale's technical chops? Do we have another "marketing expert" in charge of the Corporation - or is Telus finally going appoint someone as CEO who actually knows one end of an Ethernet cable from another and which port to plug the cable into?

-

Desired CEO Competencies:

Some attention to detail regarding overseas tech rep training would be appreciated.

Does Mr. Natale have any history regarding an understanding of the concept of price-performance ratio and its effect on customer satisfaction (and therefore market share) when it comes to funding tech support training?

Some more balance in the Executive Suite between the advertising budget and money spent on infrastructure improvements would also be appreciated.

Then there is the continuing complaint regarding stonewalling and recalcitrance when it comes to exposing CPE bridging options to tech support reps...

-

BTW, those ellipses were deliberate. Ya know this is just not gonna go away, right?

Wish they'd unblock tracking on CFTEN again. What are you hiding, Telus?

All good questions, most remains to be seen.
Personally I don't believe he'll deviate from Darren's vision much. TELUS has done very well financially under his control, but we'll see. You don't become the CEO without having your own ideas and strategies

Thanks for the link to Joe's profile. That helped.

So, with the background as said - he should actually know enough that "It works better when you plug it in and turn it on." - as well as "That extensible thingie on the front of the Computer with the hole in the tray is not just a cupholder."

This is a very worthwhile improvement.

Hopefully, corporate politics is not going to hamstring him from implementing stuff that really needs to occur - if Telus is going to avoid mass defection once Generation Y have real alternatives to Telus and Shaw.

(Which Generation Y will make happen once they have firm control over the reins of political power - just sayin'...)

It has been stated that Joe Natale will be staying in Toronto.
Does this mean that Telus which has always been a Western Company will now have its headquarters back East in Toronto ? Will the headquartered Executives themselves be transferred there?
I wonder why Mr Natale did not want to move to Head Office back West?

With the Clearnet and QuebecTel acquisitions in the early 2000's, TELUS has had executives across the country for a decade or more.

There are VP/SVP's in BC, AB, ON, and PQ - I'm not sure if the CEO's desk moving from BC to Ontario will really change much...

I understand that but head office is registered as being in Vancouver BC at 768 Seymour Street.
Telus is an established Western Company being part of BCTel/Telus in British Columbia and Alberta for decades.
Saskatewan/Alberta/British Columbia were dominated for so many years by Eastern Canada and its only been the last decade or so that we can be proud to have come into our own.It would be a shame if the Head Office for Telus was taken to the East away from its heritage and roots
