[DSL] Anyone finds Amazon.com loading real slow today?

AFAIK their website is hosted on their own infrastructure which is supposedly the "golden standard" for reliability. Also their own status pages dont indicate any issues, so I wonder if there's any connectivity from TSI:

»status.aws.amazon.com/

What gives...?

I just came here to see if anything was up as I am having trouble getting facebook to load and display photos. I just tried loading amazon.ca and I am getting the same issues there. I'm just getting the webpage title and sometimes just a section of the website whenever I try reloading the page. I only just noticed this issue maybe fifteen minutes ago so I hope it's just temporary.

Yup. I'm finding things are loading much slower overall today.

I'm getting 100% packet loss on a lot of sites today.

amazon won't even load, either will audible, and some other sites.

Usenet feeds are also timing out:

PowerUsenet: 25% packet loss, average time = 365 ms
Supernews: 50% packet loss, average time = 337 ms
Tweaknews: 50% packet loss, average time = 334 ms

[Edited to add: I'm on cable, btw.]

To add another point of data, experiencing a general slow-down of service on DSL as well.

PS: Amazon pings will always timeout, they filter ICMP.

Speedtest seems ok but sites are loading so slow. What's up with this?

Having issues with Amazon.ca as well as few other sites.

Seems a lot of Cable users are experiencing the same problem ATM.

Wikipedia isn't working for me, and some other sites seem slow too. Definitely some routing issues going on.

Everything is slower as of earlier this afternoon (started around 4:30-5pm for me). Tried rebooting all hardware; changing DNS. It's either TekSavvy or Rogers again.

Ottawa checking in, slow this afternoon as well for DSL. Lots of packet loss and sites not loading altogether on an intermittent basis. Seems something's up.

Burlington here, both Ccable and DSL are pretty much useless. Except to here, routing to dslreports seems fine.

According to rocca @ Start it's a HE fiber cut or something along those lines. I'm surprised TekSavvy hasn't come out with that info.

I was about to post about a recent problem (@6pm in Montreal), thought it might be DNS related. Could a different DNS bypass the problem?

Teksavvy network status page March 31 7:45pm sez:

(Cable & DSL)

One of our U.S. carriers is currently experiencing network problems. You may encounter slow speeds or high latency if your route traverses xx.xx.he.net links. Our NOC team is looking into the issue to get it resolved ASAP.

I've been having trouble with various websites tonight too. I also can't get online with Origin (game program), that was the first issue I noticed.

This is w/ DSL in Toronto.

I am glad this turned out to be a remote issue. However, as of 5 minutes ago, everything seems to be (mostly) back to normal. Still a few delays here and there which I'm sure will be sorted out.

Same here, with DSL. Glad it's not just me. I thought maybe it was a virus, and even AVG is taking hours to download. Amazon.com/ca, yahoo, redflagdeals, and about 20 other sites I've tried are slower than dial up or not working at all.

my guess has been that the browser is choking on the obscene amount of javascript used to do literally EVERYTHING on Amazon these days.

I miss the good old days of lightning fast loading HTML sites.

Javascript in any decent browser is compiled to native these days so it wouldn't be slowing anything unless it's buggy. If Amazon is loading slow this isn't the reason.

See TSI Andre ^^^ for the actual reason why it was slow.
