[General] Can anyone access http://www.obitalk.com?

I have no access to »www.obitalk.com or the forums. I get the following message even after clearing cookies.

Welcome to OBiTALK.

I experienced this last night around midnight EST. Maybe some one spilled coffee on the server or it is running Windows XP (beware the ides of April 8th LOL). The real question is, did anyone at Obihai notice or did it fix itself? I'm thinking the latter.

Maybe they were patching the OpenSSL heart bleed security defect.

Makes you wonder. I've been having problems with my providers being able to register as well.

Just tested obitalk.com here:

»filippo.io/Heartbleed/

And according to that, it's vulnerable.

Last night, early in the evening (in Calif), I got a message that the site was down for some short time for maintenance. I later accessed the forums, but after a while, it got really slow(er), and I got that same message at one time. So, I went to bed.

Seems OK now.

Glad I don't rely on Obitalk for anything. I tend to stick with the direct approach.

FWIW, it's working for me now.

Many Obi device users signed up for the VoIP company Vestalink which is having its own challenges right now.

Perhaps many of those overlapping customers are trying to log in to ObiTALK today seeking information, account maintenance, or solace.

Just wait till May 15 when thousands of unsuspecting OBi/GV users wake up to find they have no phone service and don't have a clue what to do when they can't log into the OBiTALK web portal nor the Obihai forum because they've crashed under the load.

Site is either very sluggish or unreachable at times today for me.

Obitalk has issues. The door open for speculation- is it just the load of GV refugees or a lack of maintenance indicating problems with the company itself? It is no secret that their over reliance on GV is backfiring.

I don't speculate about such things.

If you want to see any arbitrary web site begin to crawl, write a brief story about something geeky and include a link to the site. Then post the story to Slashdot.

I suppose it's just a coincidence that Vestalink's SIP servers and Obitalk.com are both hosted on Amazon AWS and they've both been having problems.
