[Info] Straw poll.

Morning all,
Following on from a developing discussion here »Packet Tracer Labs
I was wondering, how many of us have been through the Cisco Academy to gain our certs?
I'll start...

Went through them then never actually got the cert. Went back 2 years later and did it on my own. So No / maybe?

YES, went through CNAP for CCNA and passed it on the first attempt like 10 years ago. I had better instructors than the written curriculum though.

Did it the old fashioned way. Picked up the books and PDFs from Pearson Education. Read. And read. And read some more. And I spent a considerable amount of time on my lab understanding VLSM, trunking, frame relay, and routing.

It took me two tries, but I passed.

Yes.
I took the CCNA 4 semester course through Networking Academy. In addition to the Packet Tracer simulator offered with the other online material, the school I chose had a nice lab setup so we got hands-on with real gear. That was a big plus IMO.

I did the cisco academy via school around 2004, the school had a great teacher.

good times, but didn't have the money for the cert test at the time.

Of the 4 instructors I had, I'd rate 3 as very good, while 1 was just OK. I procrastinated but finally took and passed the combo exam about a year later.

the courses I took were with the same instructor
they were listed as cisco 1-4 (5-8 were planned but never happened, 5-8 would have been ccnp stuff)

they were all with the same teacher (he really knew his stuff, and have something above CCNP himself) though he's since left teaching
