said by confused123 :does it mean that on may 1 all isps will be upgreaded to these speeds? No.. They're grandfathering all old speeds, so unless you ask for a new speed from your ISP you won't get it - thats if your ISP is able to get the cost studies done quickly enough and figure out pricing. These speeds go live for TPIA April 16th it looks. |

but, we can ask for new speeds our current provider? start? tsi? ebox? etc. price will be different, of course, but, they must provide this or ? thanks |

Why would the 10/60 charge ($28) be higher than 10/150 ($23)? |

They don't have to provide the new speeds, but amany will. |

That's the red herring Ressy, if TPIA providers are paying CBB, who gives a flying F what the speeds are, it doesn't cost any more to "go fast" it's about how much data you consume at that speed (CBB). |

If someone uses their 250/20 connection at full connection 24/7 for a month, it costs the TPIA provider ~$3500. They need to do a cost analysis.
And at that point, it's cheaper for the TPIA provider to tell you to take a hike to Rogers. |

I meant the filing of new tariffs. I fully understand costs and the TPIA providers have to figure out what costs are. (I dunno if I could find enough "content" to fill a 250 connection 24/7) |

Have we lost you to the dark side? Honestly, these price increases are huge, and a big problem. Indies have virtually no room to compete for either low need or high usage users now. |

Never. I'm just acknowledging the plain fact that yes, Rogers does have increased costs to provide the higher upload. Whether they're THAT high is questionable. I guess we'll find out when they file a cost study and the CRTC goes over it with a fine toothed comb. The price increases are quite large, compounded by the increasing capacity requirements to support the speed increases. The markup is too high. Wholesale should be classed as an essential service, which would be a lower markup. |

said by BThunderW:Why would the 10/60 charge ($28) be higher than 10/150 ($23)? $23 is the current for 150/10. There is a proposed increase to $33 for 150/10. So it would stand to reason Rogers would follow their own proposed pricing as opposed to the current, when looking at the new tiers. |

From what I see, one option for TPIAs is to take the exisiting 150M/10M - $23.32 and to shape it down to whatever speed profiles they desire (similar with what Start does now).
Is this still possible? |

Is this still possible? Once April 16th rolls around, nobody new can go on 150/10. Its being grandfathered. |

April 16th 2013 is long gone Ressy, that's for the older tiers that from when before the Aggregate POI introduction.
It does say current tiers like the 150/10 will be grandfathered but not when. |

Second tariff was filled today also to removed existing tiers. They are asking for current tiers to be grandfathered on June 16th. |
