Re: Jim Flaherty dead at 64You know, he made some unpopular even to his own caucus decisions....income trust tax loophole close, chastizing business for reducing mortgage rate (when bmo reduced mortgage rate to 2.99%), etc...poor guy he didn't look to be in bad health but I guess there is something below the surface.
Will there be an autopsy?...I don't know if that's still the case when a death occurs outside hospital. Sounds like my grandmother who passed away in 1996....one second ok and the next gone. Rip mr. Flaherty. Thank you for your contributions to canada and canadian society. |

Left: Jim Flaherty in 2010. Right: Jim Flaherty in early 2013 after treatments for his illness.
I observed this like millions others and wondering what the heck is going on. The media was also wondering about that and finally Jim announced the treatment and its effects.

They call it Moonface for a reason. It would also explain some of the recent outbursts on the floor of the House of Commons. They've also just announced that he will be receiving a state funeral. |

State funerals are traditionally offered to Ministers of the Crown who pass away in office, and although he stepped down from his post three weeks ago, the House of Commons hadn't even yet gotten around to removing the "Minister of Finance" sign from Flaherty's Centre Block office yet. It's recent enough that I'm ok with it. |

Because there hasn't been a finance minister who died in office (or so close) since 1930. Get over it. |

Excuse me while I regurgitate. Flaherty was a Roman Catholic. I can appreciate and understand as fully appropriate having a Roman Catholic mass for a person of faith. I have difficulty with the political lionizing which is already happening. |

i don't know anything about the drug or it's effects, merely sharing a story... a friend who was on prednisone weighed 125 lbs...skin and bones...he died young, and his mom's beef with the hospital was that he should never have been on prednisone...now that you mention it makes me wonder why she was so opposed to it. |
