Re: [ALL] SHAW quarterly results are in

I have Shaw Go WiFi with 8 access points and 3 outdoor antennas.

It is only 5mbps. On my cell phone LTE is way faster on my galaxy S4. I do have a 30 dollar 6gb plan (sad that sounds good ).

That is normal,

ShawOpen seems to be capped at 5 mbps per device

id say unlimited data is worth being capped at 5mbps. its more then enough to most smartphones and tablets

I've changed my mind about Shaw Go Wifi. I'm not sure if its because I recently upgraded my phone from a Galaxy S2 to an S5 (hence a possible upgrade in the phone antenna), or if Shaw put in a new router closer to where I work but I can now use Shaw Go while at work.

That should cut down some of my monthly cell data usage

Isn't Shaw Go Wifi unsecure? As in it's unencrypted traffic?

I would guess so. It's like many other public wifi spots on that you can connect to it without a WPA/WPA2/WEP key, but you do need to log in with your Shaw credentials to get access (but it does remember your device, so you once you login from a device, it must remember your MAC as you don't have to do it again).

Many sites and services use https so I imagine that would remain encrypted, but if your not using HTTPS then I would guess your traffic could be sniffed?
