Hi Maynard Kerbs, what exactly do the customers win? any money? a discount? a penalty free termination?

From the 30 lines article linked by OP: quote: If the ruling stands, each customer would be reimbursed about $15.

It's such a common sense decision (as are QC's consumer laws), yet the incumbents will test that kind of thing EVERY time ! They figure that nobody will test them back. They were WRONG, at least this time. Yep, THAT's where to kick 'em, right in the ARPU ! |

"If you need to speak with an agent there will be a $24.99 "The Agent Will Speak With You But The Agent Either Doesn't Know Anything Or Is Not Authorized To Help You" fee added to your bill.
If you need to speak to a supervisor to get information the agent couldn't give you, or to have the $24.99 charge waived, there will be a $69.99 supervisory intervention fee added to your bill and the $24.99 fee will not be waived.
Telus wants to thank you for your business as we give you the business." |

That first one makes a feeling of nostalgia wash over me. It could easily have been the message for which Virgin mobile was trying to get me to read between the lines, back in 2008. Now I feel dirty all over again. I should go and shower. |

Showering isn't powerful enough. Try moulting. |

Honestly, out of the big cell carriers, I'm a bit surprised that Telus did this. In my experience they've been pretty good to deal with. Shame on them for pulling a move like this. |

Telus paid too much attention to their lawyers (and accountants), instead of to their customer base. |

Telus isn't being sued for charging for inbound SMS in general, merely for making that change without the proper notification of a material contract change. |
