I have some logs in my yard. Need to throw them out somehow..A few years back I had a tree fall in my yard. Not big, but still needed to chop it up in to pieces. I stacked them next to my shed. Now I need to make a new shed, but I don't know where to get rid of the logs. There is a recycling place close to me, but they will only take 5" long debre. The logs are around a foot by 2 foot long. I really don't know where i can go to haul them. Any suggestions. Thanks for your time .

The logs are not in good shape. They are kinda rotten some etc. Nobody would want to burn them. |

Talk to your county waste disposal.
Here they pick up lawn debris from the street once a week. Recycling another day and normal trash on 2 other days.
There are things they won't take. I found railroad ties was one of them (even cut up.) Construction debris is another.
Called them, very helpful. Some things like large appliances, they will pick up if called. I have taken a few trips to their landfill and was easy to do.
If you don't have waste disposal in your area, try calling a tree service to see where they dispose of wood or if they will do it. |

Doesn't matter. Slap them on Craigslist for free, describe them as you did here. Someone will take them. Rotten wood burns real nice once it's dry. |

You can cut it down to smaller parts and dump it with your weekly trash. |

My brother has a fire pit and he's not picky about wood, gets all he needs by way of craigslist. Plenty of other folks out there do the same I'm sure. |

People on Craigslist will take ANYTHING free. I've put up air conditioning units that no longer work, rotten firewood, pine firewood, scraps insulation, scraps of dimensional lumber, and even a pile of wood chips and a pile of medium size rocks I made doing some yard cleanup last year. |

If you lived up here I'd take it. I take rotten wood all the time. I keep it FAR away from the house until it's dry though. |

There are also outside firepits that junk wood may not matter. Dry rotten wood is still usually burnable. Now if it is infested with termites, |

Just saying if it has insects that can cause real issues then might not be as attractive. Yes ants , normal wood insects yes burn em up. But if say termites that could infest a house etc. people even for free may think twice. Even if for yard fire pit use. |

Given the time of year, most people will take this for a fire pit in the back yard. Who cares if there are termites ? There's a better chance of them infecting his house currently than after they're thrown in a fire pit and burned. |

I think your sizes are trashable, the requirement likely is 5' or less, so the claw can pick them up and the truck can fit them in and the yard equipment can take them.
as mentioned, old rotten buggy wet wood needs drying before use, say a summer under cover. as is it will only catch fire slowly, if heated by an existing similar size fire. so an experience fireplace person will still take it.
one other option not mentioned yet, is to just move them to somewhere at the edge of your property, and just leave them there or bury them. let them go back to being the dirt they came from. your cost is just the labor time for the moving. |
