all solid state mac : clicks coming out of power nap

no moving parts, but it sounds like a hard disk doing a 'seek spindle'.

Could the clicks be coming from the speaker?

My MBA will make a similar sound. It's actually the fan spinning up.

I have this sound as well on a MacPro6,1. I associate it either with the fan starting or with the sounds some power supply chain components make when they're being powered (just because they're solid state doesn't mean they don't make noise...)

haha.. yeah there are a few moving parts in there: fan is culprit no. 1. i keep hearing the sound, and it *could* be the fan. could be the power supply. it *really* sounds like a hard disk r/w head flicking back and forth a couple times. =D

couldn't possibly be.. nah..
