[WIN8] Windows 8.1 + KB2919355 Question

I installed the KB2919355 update a few days ago. Then lo and behold an updated version got pushed through Windows Update to my computer. There was a posting in this thread that stated that I needed to install KB2959977 only, if I already installed KB2919355.

»KB2919355 offered again

I checked Windows Update and the updated KB291935 is still showing.

I had a hell of a time installing KB291935 on my Windows 8.1 laptop. It wouldn't install through Windows Update, so I had to download the executable file. I've tried to search for the updated KB291935 with no luck. Please help me in this matter.

Here's my post from another thread that should answer your question.
(the thread is here: »KB2919355 offered again)

KB2199355 (aka Windows 8.1 Update 1) contains several files, including KB2199355.

Here's summary for you... (Thanks to Michael Niehaus of Microsoft)
The original MSDN download contained KB2919355, KB2932046, KB2937592, KB2938439, and KB2949621.

The first version of the update published to WU contained KB2919355, with child updates KB2932046, KB2937592, KB2938439, and KB2934018 (which is a roll-up containing KB2949621).

The second version of the update published to WU, which is the only one published to WSUS, added KB2959977 to the above list but made no other changes.

The 2.6mb file just released under the KB2919355 moniker is KB2959977. Here is a link to KB document:

I read your response in that thread, but Windows Update is still prompting me to install KB2199355- even though it was sucessfully installed already.

Edit: I also installed KB2959977, which didn't change a thing. Windows Update is still prompting me to install KB2199355.

Glad to here that. The Window 8.1 Update 1 has been "interesting" in the least. I'm one of the lucky ones that had no problems with it.

I saw it failed to install on my machine. But 3809 did install a day later. I'm not going to worry about it not installing.

Be aware that if you are running WIndows 8.1, you will not be able to get future updates unless you have Windows 8.1 Update 1 installed.

That is what 9355 is? Then MS needs to fix their patch system so it installs.
Hmm, I wonder if a class action lawsuit can't be started over this?*
*rhetorical question/joke. no need to answer*
After all it's their OS, their update, it should install with little effort on the user's part. Meaning I shouldn't have to go download it and install it.
