[Equip] How do I access the USB on a TG852?

I plugged my MP3 player into the USB of my TG852.

How can I access on a WIndows 7 machine. Under network drives, the TG852 is listed but clicking it gives a disconnecting error.

The USB port is not usable at this time on the TG852.

It must physically work, just no software to drive it.

I make that assumption because, when I plugged my MP3 player into the router, the MP3 player started recharging its batter and the TG852 router showed up as a network drive in Windows 7. After I disconnected the MP3 player, the router no longer showed up as a network drive.

while the USB port is indeed supplying power, comcast is evidently disabling its use as a network drive

That is correct. There is no firmware support for the USB port on our gateways.

Comcast may not support it but im guessing you can use the drivers from Arris. I doubt you can get much more than a computer to work thru it tho. »moto.arrisi.com/support/ ··· ndex.asp

it doesnt say, but i think those drivers are so you can connect to the internet via USB, i don't think they apply to accessing a connected storage device over the LAN

I don't think the Comcast system will allow you to load those to a leased unit.

FWIW, USB drivers for the purpose of connecting to a straight cable modem would get downloaded and installed on a computer.
