[H/W] Recommend a Cisco AP upgrade from 1231s

I currently have a couple of AP1231-AG's. Solid, but they are getting a little slow nowadays.

Have been looking at dual-band AP1252's and they are relatively cheap on ebay, but the psu's are a little pricey, but even accounting for that, they look to be decent 802.11n devices, right?

Any other AP's worth looking at?

Right now, I have the AP1231's configured with 2 different SSIDs, each end up on a separate vlan (a home & guest lan) - and I'd like to keep that functionality. I also would like it to run IOS. Also dont need more than 100Mbps 'real' bandwidth as it is likely to terminate to a fastethernet port.

I use the 1140 at home. Rock solid, dual radio, 11n and I don't need a PSU as I'm doing PoE from the switch.

1140 is about to go EOS from Cisco but of you don't mind that then I agree, a 1142 from eBay would be a good choice. I use one at home (along with a Meraki MR16). The 1142 is an IOS device and handles multiple VLAN's without issue. Most of my deployments use these or the newer 1602 or 2602 with anywhere between 5 to 10 wireless LAN's running across them.

Current models that would be considered as a direct replacement are the 1602 and 2602. The 2602 looks identical to the 1140. There is also the very new 2700 and 3700 series but they are likely to be expensive, even second hand.

If you're going for newer AP's have a look at getting a PoE switch or using PoE injectors. Makes life much easier. The SG200-8-PT is an 8 port managed PoE switch that I use often for multi VLAN installs where there is a lack of cable infrastructure for adding lots of new devices to a LAN.

1602/2602. Very good gear, we've deployed dozens, not one dud.
If It matters, 1602 is half the weight of 2602.
Two spatial streams vs three. 2602 feels like a tank and weighs like one.
