Optimum Outage Alerts Via Text Message Now AvailableI just saw in this month's bill that you can now get outage notifications via text message. Cablevision states that they will send no more than three per week. To sign up, dial from your mobile phone **optimum and you will be texted a link to verify the number for which you want to receive outage alerts. |

Yup, except, it doesn't work. Adding a phone number gives 'Unable to update contact info'. Trying to turn on text messaging can't work because I can't add the phone number. I called them on this several months ago. They told me I had to call to get it done, but it never got done that way, either. Good luck. |

It worked for me as far as getting the **OPTIMUM recording, but I still haven't received the text with the link. |

You can also just set it up on the Optimum website under "my profile" after signing in with your Optimum ID. |

I read on my new bill today that you can txt **OPTIMUM, which sends you to a web page to set it up. For me, that didn't work either. I called again, and the rep said he set it up. |
