[WIN7] Post install-> drivers and long shutdown

After running Win8 for a while I decided to downgrade to Win7 and does it all ways take so long to shutdown on a fresh install? It feels like it takes forever at the 'Shutting down...' screen and the HDD activity LED doesn't really blink, so I'm thinking 'is it frozen?' But then it powers off.
What can be done to speed that process up? Why does it seem to hang at that screen?
The drivers that are installed are from my motherboard CD and yes they are old, I think 2012, sadly there has been no updates. Unless I reach out to Intel for the chipset drivers, Realtek for LAN and HDA. They are all ways updated.

I found this and did everything it says and one word to describe it. WHOA!!
Maybe it was cleaning up the pagefile at shutdown?

Not sure what's happening with your installation. My Windows 7 shuts down quite rapidly, usually in about 15 seconds unless I have a lot of different software's open in Windows.

I timed it and it ranges from 3 seconds to 30 seconds.
