ceramic disk

hello im replacing a ceramic disk capacitor i bought same ohms but the torlerence is different original is 5% and the new one is 20% can it be used?

I think you mean the same capacitance, not ohms.

Whether it will work depends on the circuit it is used in.

As shdesigns said, it depends on how it's used in the circuit.

If, for example, it's just there for power supply bypassing or filtering, it shouldn't be an issue, but in some applications such as oscillators or as part of an RF L-C filter, the loose tolerance of the replacement capacitor may potentially have adverse effects.

It still depends on what kind of circuit that capacitor is in. However in a cb radio the odds that the tolerance is important is higher then in some other devices.

then it's probably located in the rear of the radio, in the final R.F. section, and was burned up from overdriving the R.F. section, or running the radio into a very high SWR.. if this is the case, then you should replace the cap with a cap with exact values as original.
