yeah neither have i but it started yesterday. Internal Server Error is the message i get. but it works through tor browser so it seems like comcast is the culprit.

DNS 3 is blank

clear all caches restart and try again, Comcast is not blocking Youtube.
Occasionally you Tube will stop a running video and put up a "that resource is not availabe right now...try again later" which is entirely a you-tube and content poster issue. Sometimes when they do it all you see is the black screen without the message, , (this depends on browser settings) which may seem like comcast cut you off.

the whole site is down not just a specific video. also if it works in tor browser that means the site isn't down and there are no issues there. comcast is clearly blocking youtube seeing if they could milk money out of google just like they did for netflix. and the issue is not just isolated to me many other people are having the same issue in my area.

So network problems in your area are a plot by Comcast to deny you your YouTube?

comcast doesn't block or throttle anything. because you say tor is working, that might point to a localized routing/DNS problem in your area. when you use tor, you emerge in a location most likely far away, and get potentially different DNS servers. that fact that you say others in your area are having a problem, supports this thesis even further.

try manually using OpenDNS (208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220) and see if that works.

yes but when i call comcast they say there is no issue. i have explained to them what is happening but they say nothing is wrong.

plus they have used sandvine in the past to throttle and limit connections.. they might have started using them again. so when you say comcast doesn't throttle well thats a complete lie when they have done it and it is widely reported.

they used sandvine to throttle bittorrent connections 7 years ago, and the terms of the NBC merger dictate that they treat all traffic equally.

in any case, youtube is working fine for me.

then why did netflix have to pay if they treated all traffic equal.. netflix paying pretty much sums it up that they aren't and are blocking traffic based on their discretion.

I feel you are misguided with your assumptions and are using this topic as a flaming point for off-topic issues. Comcast is not blocking YouTube, you have a local problem that is not allowing you to reach it.

The trace route completes without any destination unreachable. That tells me it's not a blocking issue (especially when it looks like that tracert is evidence of them direct peering with youtube).

Try directly connecting your computer to the modem. Reset your "non-working" browsers to their default and disable any plug-ins that are not needed. Troubleshooting is a fun business, my friend.

they might be blocking for certain users. if i could tracert youtube and can access it from a proxy how is it not a comcast issue?

And they might not be. If anyone else that has Comcast can get on the website just fine, then there's an issue on your end (and not comcast).

The tracert completing successfully in a direct peering way, says that Comcast is not blocking YouTube, with or without a proxy.

As others here have mentioned, try changing your DNS server to the OpenDNS servers: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. Comcast is either having DNS issues or there may be something running on your computer that may be preventing you from reaching yt...

Can you clarify whether youtube's site is completely unavailable you aren't able to stream content

I've had poor streaming performance issues intermittently with Comcast which I've come to believe are symptoms of congested routes. What helped for me was to dig into the firewall and block the common CDN IP ranges ISP's use for youtube delivery. This forces a change in the delivery route which for me and many others has speed youtube up immensely. It's explained here- »www.wikihow.com/Make-You ··· d-Faster and many other places around the net.

Why is it that every time some has a problem reading a site their first step is to accuse the ISP of some evil conspiracy?

Dont you think if comcast was blocking utube. It would be more than just you complaining on the internet.

I would say the chances of Comcast is somehow throttling Youtube traffic is low. Having said that, Youtube does put a substantial load on circuits, and as with Netflix, Comcast could twist the arm of Youtube to pay for the fast lane.

I think this is something to watch for the future, and see if it builds up to the point where a decision by Youtube has to be made.
