quote:Even though Mad Max: Fury Road isn't hitting theaters until May 2015, there's apparently a good enough version of it out there to screen for fans - and even start a huge mega-buzz for George Miller's over-budget production.
The Dark Knight Rises' Tom Hardy has stepped into the titular role of Max, and early tweets/blurbs/review-lettes from those who saw the early screening of the movie are crazy good. The lengthiest praise comes from AFTimes' Randy - a self-professed Max super fan - who wrote "This IS the kind of Mad Max II/The Road Warrior on steroids, go-big-or-go-home, bug-nuts crazy, toss-you-in-the-deep-end mythology and put-it-all-out-there-in-case-we-never-make-another-one Mad Max Fury Road."
This movie feels like thirty years of Miller holding in passion for a world that he built so long ago, exploding on the screen You want groovy cars? By the car-carrier load! You want auto combat? Parts strewn for miles! You want practical f/x and stunts? I wonder how many on the stunt team died making this madness?!"

"Just came from a year in advance screening of "Mad Max Fury Road". Weird to not see Gibson as Max but Tom Hardy holds it down just fine. Great action sequences and amazing post apocalyptic vehicles and costuming with awesome makeup."
I'm hoping the movie rocks. I've been missing the "down and gritty" end of the world type movies that used to be semi-popular in the 80's. In part thanks to the original Mad Max. Maybe this movie will be a new launching point for movies of it's type to return?
Nice but once again it seems the trailers show Charlize Theron as the resident bad @$$ and Max doesn't seem to do much other then get saved by her.
I'm all for Charlize Theron being a strong lead in her own movie. Maybe they should change the title to Mad Maxine or something. I'm perfectly ok with that.

What would you think of her taking Sigorney Weaver's role in Aliens?

I think we would be lucky to have Charlize Theron in such a role. However, given that she was in "Prometheus" in an entirely different role it would come off a bit odd with respect to continuity.
Noomi Rapace was quite good in terms of a Ripley / Sigorney Weaver type part,....IMO.
Saw it over the weekend, definitely a Mad Max movie. Probably the best vehicular combat ever put to film (especially the War Rig escape sequence, wow) but rather light on plot and dialogue (which is fine in a movie like this). Personally I thought the most interesting character was the guy that turned his coat and ended up helping the good guys at the end.
Zoe Kravitz is fairly recognizable as a star in her own right at this point or at least a celebrity. She is quite the looker too IMO.
While I haven't seen this movie yet I have to say that waiting a year or more accurately "over a year" to watch a movie makes it very difficult to live up to expectations. The reason for this is that expectations can just build up over time.
Hyping a production over a year out is both a blessing and a curse.
George Miller already wrote the sequel - Mad Max: The Wasteland
I made the mistake of watching this in low res p2p, I really wish I hadn't as it was really that immersive. film school class will be studying this next semester.
7/10.........wasn't bad and the gals were good looking ........but it was just too much blow em up ,crash, kill.
Hardy looked like Bane with that mask on in the beginning.
I just didn't feel the movie, for what ever reason.
Now go back a few years to a movie that was low on plot, had a few decent one liners, lots and lots of guns, violence, sexual innuendos. Now that movie I thought was awesome. Fury road just felt flat for what ever reason. I did like the "water" scene though. Where the brides were all washing or whatever.
