Quick question about TekTalk, phone numbers and long distance

I currently live in Quebec city and have a 418 phone number. I will be moving in a few weeks to Gatineau where 819 is the regional indicative. Can I change my phone number right now even if I still live in Quebec city?

Also, are long distances based on where you live or on your phone number? I.e. if friends from Quebec city call me on a 819 number while I'm still in Quebec city, will it be a long distance? If I use my 819 number in Quebec city to call a family member in Gatineau who is on a 819 number, will it be a long distance?

Thank you very much

Entirely base don your actual number and not on where you are. if you're in qc city with your 819# Gatineau people will be able to call you with no ld charges.
