[Homephone] Bell noisy phone line + Internet disconnection- Fibe25/10Hi all,
Is there anybody has the same problem as mine. I have phone and Fibe 25/10 with Bell. Sometimes my phone line is very noisy and that makes my Internet disconnect many times a day. In last few months, I have asked for help in the Bell Direct forum, the technician has changed my profile to Fibe TV profile and my Internet becomes stable since there, but this is the 2nd time my phone line becomes noisy and my Internet disconnects repeatedly. I have tried to call Bell phone support but it seems that they can charge for sending someone to fix the problem, then I have canceled the call. Usually the problem persists about 1, 2 days and the phone line becomes clear and Internet becomes stable.
I don't know what can I do ? Do you have any suggestion ? Last time I have asked help in the Direct Forum and the technician has told me that there have been some errors on the line, he kept observe for 1 or 2 days, but the problem was gone after 1 day so I don't have a real solution yet. Today the noise comes back it's very annoying and my Internet keeps disconnecting many time.
Thank you for any information
Regards

If you have a demarcation point and you can plug your telephone directly into it...do that when the "static" is present on the line. Your internet will most like be out of service as you are doing the test. If the static still remains on the line when you are plugged directly into the demarc then the trouble is on Bell's side...however if the static disappears then the trouble may be inside your house (ISW) and that would cost for a repair. Tough choice. |

Tough choice You'd have to disconnect the ISW to rule it out though... a short anywhere in the network can cause the kind of static you're talking about. That said, if he's got a POTS splitter (which he should have for 25/10), then the ISW should be properly filtered out, and a metallic fault on the ISW wouldn't be causing problems with sync. (Assuming it's not defective and is properly installed, that is). |

Yes with a proper demarcation point...the ISW is unplugged first and then the telephone is inserted into the rj11 port thereby isolating the inside wiring. I agree it would have to be done that way. That is the intention of the demarcation point. |

Thank you for all advices. I will try to check that. I remember that there is a (Bell) box outside of the house, and when I get Fibe 25/10 a technician has come and installed a splitter box inside my house. He told me that DSL used 2 wires and phone used 2 others so I would not need DSL filters any more. I'm wondering do I have to open the box outside to test or on the splitter box inside ? I didn't check it yet, don't know if there is a RJ11 plug on it or not.
Thanks & regards

Re: [Homephone] Bell noisy phone line + Internet disconnection- Fibe25/10As taraf said, if your line is properly filtered with the pots filter, chances are it isn't an inside issue because the noise wouldn't affect the sync of the modem. Call Bell and have someone comes out. Chances are your distribution cable pair has gone bad. |

Re: [Homephone] Bell noisy phone line + Internet disconnection- Fibe25/10Does the noise happen to coincide with rain or melting snow? Is your house fed by an aerial drop? Sounds like a bad drop to me. |
