Re: [CATV] West MI. Goes "spectrum" on June 10th

File this under Hmmmm....
quote:
RF Downstream Interface 1 Enabled UP 42.884
RF Upstream Interface 1 Enabled UP 30.720

So, 17.116 Mb/s to go...

My headend or hub is in Coldwater, MI but I believe the master headend is in Allendale.

I guess so...

That means, 2 months since the switchover to all digital, which was June 10th for (most of) us.

Yes,
That is a good date. Will be my 24th wedding anniversary!

Also 1 week before my 34th anniversary of getting out of the Army!

Charter Spectrum must be happening here soon also. Internet connection went out tonight which was the first time since i got Charter internet back in December. Unplugged modem and shut down computer and went back to bed and now when i turned the computer back on and plugged in the modem i have 8 channels bonded now. I had noticed in the last few days my connection acting weird so that must be the reason why. No speed increase yet but it must be coming soon.

Haven't rebooted modem today and can't get at modem log either but stuff sure is flying today! Supposedly still 5 days away from official spectrum date.

I've always had boost kicking in for a few seconds at beginning of any test, but this one started at about 40 and kept going up the whole time!

Rebooted yesterday as I thought it "felt" snappier, but wasn't getting quite these results then.

Edit:
Of course, as soon as I say I can't get to modem page, I try again and got it. Absolutely nothing in logs.

Was getting 30 meg speed, now getting 60 meg after reboot. Nice.

I get all excited when i do a speed test and it climbs over 60 meg but then it goes back down again. Hopefully one day it will stay above 60 meg. What is weird is on my desktop when i do a speed test it bursts over 110 meg then drops down and always seems to stop at about 31.44 meg for some reason unlike my tests on my laptop.

That happens to me on my laptop. Get a speed burst of 100+Mbps and then it settles in the low 30's.

I've never found out why it does that. It's the reverse of what would happen with other services where it should start out slow and then ramp up. (Has to do with TCP discovery and other technical stuff.)

Spectrum Internet has gone live in my area! I also did tests with DiffProbe and it no longer shows any downstream traffic shaping. So it looks like PowerBoost is gone for good! Now I just have to get an 8 channel modem so I can get consistent speed during prime-time

I never got anything in the mail today nor did I get an email telling me it was available. I figured that would be the case.

I am fed of the Coldwater, MI headend so maybe yours isn't quite ready yet? I'm pulling over 60 Mbps when wired and around 50 Mbps over wireless. The wireless card in my laptop isn't quite up to par, either that or my router isn't

Could be... or it is a config issue, since I have a TM902 combo unit, and the correct config won't be pushed until the 11th.

The modem info still shows what I posted above,
RF Downstream Interface 1 Enabled UP 42.884
RF Upstream Interface 1 Enabled UP 30.720

so, until those numbers change, I don't think I will be seeing a increase yet.

Me and Zappa are both served off the Allendale head end and Charter technically doesn't even support my Zoom modem, so not looking for anything to be pushed to it, if that's what you're talking about, but still getting 60+ on a different computer now and still haven't rebooted modem either!

Guess I'll reboot just to see what I can screw up!

You will rarely, if ever, get wireless speeds the same as wired. Wireless has too many generated errors from signal variations, static, other wireless, and so on that cause packet losses and retries.

FWIW,
I get exactly the same speeds wired or wireless, regardless of where I'm at in my house. Haven't ever noticed it fluctuating. I do know that what you're saying CAN be true though.

Wow! Totally amazed!! I didn't think this absolute piece of crap computer of my wife's could possibly come close to getting 60Mbps, but it does. Spectrum must be official then.

Usually never even got the 30Mbps. On speedtest.net even and I've never liked that site.

Looking good! Might be something to do with E-MTA modems not getting the new configuration file. I have a data only SB6121 which is one of the most popular modems so maybe that has something to do with it??
