Mac Pro RAM

Will RAM meant for the cylindrical Mac Pro fit the 4,1 and 5,1 (2009 - 2012) tower models? The new RAM is faster, but this should not be an issue.

One problem is that the old tower Mac Pro ram is fitted with heatsinks, but they can be removed they are held with just clips.

Other than that, if they are DDR3-1333 it could possibly work, since the new Mac Pro does seem to accept them in larger capacities.

Only the DDR2 FB RAM (used in the 2006 - 2008 Mac Pro) required the special heatsinks. The stock RAM in my 2012 MP has no heatsinks.

Ah, I didn't know that... My only hands on experience was with the 2006-2008 MP's.
