Using my Motorola SB 6141, I received a 95 down/10 up speed test for the first time around 6:58 am CDT on June 3 in N.W. Austin near McNeil and Hwy 183. I'll need to drop-by the TWC office and pick-up a rental modem to stretch for the full 300/20 performance.

You are aware that you need an Arris rental modem from TW or you need to buy an SB6183 modem to get 200/20 or 300/20 speeds, right?

Working in Barton Creek 78735 using a 6141 so only getting 100/10, I'm waiting for the 6183 to officially be available for purchase.

What are you guys doing to get the updated speeds? I'm in Bull Creek 78759 and still seeing 50/5 with a SB6141. I should be getting 100/10 or 100/20 even without a 16x4 modem, right?

What are you seeing when you read your SB 6141's signal parameters at »192.168.100.1/

Are you seeing evidence of 8x4 channel bonding under the "Signal" Tab?

If not, then perhaps Bull Creek will be part of the second wave of upgrades not due until the Fall.

In 78759 my logs show the speed update went active at around 2am last night. Unfortunately it looks like my Asus RT-16N running Tomato is holding back my speeds on the WAN->LAN throughput, as I seem to peak at ~90Mbit down (though the "full" 20Mbit up) instead of the 200Mbit tier I should be seeing. The stock Asus firmware is supposed to be better in this regard, but I might be testing out the Arris NAT functionality soon...

I don't know. I don't have the SB6141 on right now. Im using the rental modem right now. I'm in McAllen/Harlingen area due to work for AT&T. So, I cant switch the modems to see what it would do.

Kind of curious why the 6141 only seeing 10mb upload since it has the same number of bonded upload channels

That's because the fastest MAXX tier the SB6141 will be provisioned for only has 10Mbps upload speeds.

ahh so they are artificially limiting the upload

Not sure exactly what you mean. Different tiers have different upload speeds (except for Ultimate 200 and Ultimate 300, which both have 20Mbps upload).

TWC doesn't support tiers above 100/10 (the new Turbo replacement) on the SB6141. So if you're on something higher you'll get the config file for that tier sent to the modem rather than the higher-end one.

Well after several reboots of the Ubee modem i'm still at 30/5. I guess Pflugerville is a red headed step child and won't get it till fall. 78634, Star Ranch area.

No improvement in 78758 in the Gracywoods area. Still stuck at 50/5 with only 4 channels down and one up. I called Time Warner and they just acknowledged that the area hasn't been upgraded, but just said that it would be "soon".

I read the article multiple times and didn't even see Pflugerville listed which I thought was very odd. Round Rock was on there though.

I"m in Pville also, just a couple miles down Gattis School from you and haven't received the update either.

I got a flyer on my door last week that they were doing "audits" in the area so I called and they said since I haven't received a letter in the mail, I wouldn't be in the first round of upgrades. Hopefully its sooner rather than later.

Re: [Internet] Postcard Announcing 300/20 in Austin

I work in TWC's Transport NOC and this is not entirely true. I know Round Rock and a handful of other locations around Austin will get the upgrade next month. I will find out more info and let y'all know

Edit: The areas listed by morgan1112 are in fact the areas that got it turned up this morning.

Re: [Internet] So 300/20 in Austin, any news?

I'm in 78759, Great Hills area. Modem is SB6141. Service is Ultimate 200 plan.

When I got home from work today, I checked and saw I was bonded to 8 channels down, 4 up. And I did a speed test and got 93.45 Mbps down / 10.79 Mbps up. Great, that's as good as I expected!

But, I had my Ooma device sitting between my cable modem and router (Airport Extreme). The Ooma is a 100Mbps device and I wanted to get it out of the main path. So I took it out so that my router (which is gigabit) was connected directly to the cable modem and rebooted everything. Then changed the Airport Express Bridging mode from "Off" to "DHCP and NAT".

Everything came back up and connected fine. Cable modem bonded to 8 down / 4 up.

But now my speed tests are only getting around 75 Mbps down / 10 Mbps up.

Any ideas why the drop in download throughput?

You need to switch your modem out (if it's leased) with an Arris DG1670 as your modem is only capable of bonding 8 DS channels and you need the Arris above which is capable of bonding 16 DS channels in order to get the full 200 Mbps down

Thanks, ATXCardsFan.

Yes, agree that I need to get a new modem to get the full 200 Mbps down. And I definitely plan to do that.

But what confused me was why my d/l speed dropped from 93 Mbps to 75 Mbps down when I removed the Ooma device from between my cable modem and router. Seemed counterintuitive.

After poking around some more, I figured out my problem. The ethernet interface on my computer was set to to use 100baseTX. I changed it to 1000baseT and now I'm getting 107 Mbps down / 10.9 Mbps up. Yay!

Just stopped by the TWC office and picked up an Arris DG1670a and much better. Happy I just bought the SB6141 from BestBuy 2 months ago with an extended warranty....

I am at MoPac and Scofield Ridge Parkway (78727).

I have a Motorola SB6141. Noticed a few weeks ago the DOCSIS bonding config went from 4/1 (DS/US) to 8/4. Nevertheless, I didn't seem to receive the speed upgrade. Still at 30x5. Power cycling the modem didn't help.

In a traceroute is tge7-1.ausutxla01h.texas.rr.com going through hub A (Duval)? Is August when they plan to have all of the nodes upgraded also, since I'm still on a 4/1 node.
