Ubiquiti WDS Repeater Sites/Mesh

Is it still possible to do a clunky mesh network with Ubiquiti M devices and WDS?

Nevermind. I'll answer my own question:

With the newest firmware installed I enabled "AP-Repeater" Mode in the radios in question. The following are requirements for it to work:

1. MAC addresses entered in each radio of the neighboring radios.
2. No security or WEP. WPA in any flavor does not work.
3. Airmax disabled.
4. All radios must have the channel set statically - auto channel does not work.

At three hops out utilizing 10mhz channels in reasonably clean spectrum I was still able to push 9megs/9megs to the new customer.

1. False (exception - force clients to lock onto Tower AP vs. Mesh Master by hard coding Tower MAC)
2. True
3. False
4. True on Tower AP's, AP Repeaters - not edge clients

Reread the application.

A nearby hacker's AP could easily fool clients of such a mesh network.

One of the main reasons I hate and don't use Ubnt's flawed WDS/mesh implementation.

Encryption is simply no-go. So in my mind, it's a no go.

True, but with routing each CPE I question what the hacker could do.

The hacker could silently capture all packets for any clients connecting to the targeted mesh node.

IEEE 802.11s defines the many extra security measures needed at the APs to implement WDS-based meshing.

For a short while we had an AP set in WDS, it was set to 10mHz channel width to minimize the the risk of it being sniffed.

I am using 10mhz channels as well.
