[H/W] CME: replacement for 1861?

I always liked the 1861. It makes a nice home/small office phone system. Now that the 1861 is EOL:

1. What are the options if I want something new with SmartNet?

2. Anyone know if there will be any new hardware to replace the 1861?

1861 data sheet:
»www.cisco.com/c/en/us/pr ··· dce.html

According to the EOL notice here
»www.cisco.com/c/en/us/pr ··· 786.html

Seems there are few direct replacements. For CME I use 2901 routers or 2921's if I need more than 35 seats.

...read:"no direct ones" according to that EOL announcement / chart provided by markysharkey See Profile , but an existing support
contract can be renewed up until 2016.

You MAY be able to get some of the functionality from an 800-series router -- the 888 has SRST and POE -- but you may
end up giving up more functionality than you want to. The 1941 series lack PVDM support but will take an SRE300 engine
to give Unity Express functionality, so if all you're using is WIC cards...

Otherwise, 2nd markysharkey See Profile 's comment about looking into th 29xx routers as a fullup replacement.

1. There are no voicemail options available for the 2901, correct? If you want voicemail on an ISR-G2 you need the NME-CUE and for that you need at least a 2911.
Correct?

2. Do I need a ISM-SRE-300-K9 to run CME and CUE voicemail/AA?

That's the way I'm reading the chart you provided, yes.

As for the functionality of the ISM-SRE300, can't say as I've never worked with one directly.
Considering it's a Core2Duo+RAM+flash memory, you'd think it'd be able to do it no problems.

Based on these release notes CUE can run on a 2901/SRE300 combo.

I have voicemail on 2 x 2901's via the SRE/ISM module.
Buy the Unity Express module and an appropriate number of licences. Crack the case open, plug in the module, give it an IP address then hit the GUI from a browser. That's when the problems start...
