It can ONLY be Comcast's fault.

I have had monitored alarm systems with 4 different companies (3 residential and 1 business) and with all of them it was the installer's responsibility to be certain that the customer knew exactly how to operate the system. I never had to read anything. The installer walked me through everything that could happen and how to deal with it. They always give you a card with a direct line to them if you have any problems. The monitoring center continuously communicates with every single system. They know if it has a bad battery, or your remote has a bad battery, if the phone line has problems, if the system has not been armed for a certain amount of time, etc. Comcast just dropped the ball badly.
